MUMICH, UNTERHACHING — FC Bayern Women produced a spirited second-half comeback to claim a 2-2 draw against Real Madrid Femenino in their UEFA Women’s Champions League Matchday 3 clash at the Uhlsport Park (Sportpark Unterhaching) on Wednesday evening.

Real struck first in Unterhaching through Athenea del Castillo in the seventh minute, finishing after Linda Caicedo’s run and cutback. Lineth Beerensteyn doubled the visitors’ lead in the 22nd minute, heading in after a set-piece move. Bayern had controlled much of the play but struggled to turn possession into clear chances.

The hosts pulled one back before the break when Edna Imade rose to meet Klara Bühl’s corner in the 31st minute. Bayern also appealed for a handball late in the first half after Bühl’s delivery appeared to strike a Madrid player’s arm, but referee Eleni Antoniou allowed play to continue.

Bayern carried their momentum into the second half. Momoko Tanikawa levelled in the 52nd minute, curling home from the edge of the area after Merle Frohms parried Linda Dallmann’s shot. The equaliser turned the match into a sustained Bayern attack: Frohms denied Imade and Pernille Harder, while Magdalena Eriksson headed just over. In stoppage time, substitute Sophie Proost struck the post.

Bayern finished with 16 shots to Real’s seven, according to the club’s match analysis. Real held on for a point, while Bayern were left to rue chances that could have turned their comeback into a win. The draw kept Bayern unbeaten at home in the competition’s group and league phases, extending that run to 17 matches. UEFA’s report named Tanikawa Player of the Match.
